When life feels overwhelming, I give myself a Reset Day, a quiet break where I retreat into my studio and let everything else wait. Sometimes I stitch, sometimes I just tidy up and organize. It helps clear my mind, calm my thoughts, and reconnect me with the joy of needlework I enjoy (Pearl and Goldwork, Fabric Manipulation, Tufting, Beading, Weaving). 

I’ve found that having a simple structure, like when and what I’ll stitch or how I’ll track progress, brings peace, not pressure. The trick is knowing it’s OKAY NOT to follow the plan perfectly. It’s not about rules, it’s about support.

For me, planning and organizing is how I quiet the mental clutter and create space for calm and creativity. What about you? Does structure feel like freedom or pressure?

I plan my year of stitching in a very simple, low-pressure way. I start by thinking about how I want the year to feel, not how much I want to finish. I don’t want to feel over stressed for sure. Then I choose a few main projects to focus on and give them plenty of breathing room. I break things down into small, realistic steps and spread them across the months, so nothing feels rushed.
